Must-see Lisbon: tips every traveler has to know

Brazil was discovered by Portugal. For this reason, relations between the two countries that effectively began in 1532 with the establishment of São Vicente, the first Portuguese permanent settlement in the Americas, continue to this day. The affection of Brazilians for Portugal and the proximity to this country makes all Brazilians "feel at home" when they arrive in Lisbon.

Lisbon is one of the oldest cities in the world and is also the oldest city in Western Europe. A different capital of contrasts.

Check out 10 must-see tips about the city.

1. Visit the mix between the "new" and the "old" of Chiado.
2. Watch a melancholy Portuguese fado show drinking a good wine.
3. Get on the yellow electric trams to Bairro Alto.
4. Read a little about Fernando Pessoa to understand the city more.
5. A tour of Belém district (Age of Discovery, Belem Tower and Jeronimos Monastery, and visit the tomb of Vasco da Gama and Fernando Pessoa).
6. Go to the Pastéis de Belém House, the confectionery where they were invented, to see their preparation and taste them.
7. Climb the elevators to see the city from above.
8. At night, Bairro Alto - and Chiado - offer an intense nightlife.
9. Live “golden” discoveries with the other side of Brazil as Igreja São Roque and Santa Catarina.
